Is diving in the Philippines amongst the best in the world? Although I have never been, within a few minutes of researching diving in the Philippines I was very captivated. The coral reefs, thousands of species of marine life, over 7000 islands, wreck diving, whale sharks and more make it seem like a diver’s paradise.

Scuba Diving is a vital part of Philippines tourism and there are over 100 PADI Dive Centres and Resorts located throughout the islands to accommodate all of its tourist’s diving needs. You can find all of the Philippines PADI Dive Centres or Resorts in our PADI Dive Shop Locator.

Recreational and Technical diving is available throughout the country and some of the recommended places to dive include the world heritage listed Tabbataha, Malapascau and Leyte for regular shark encounters, the world’s second largest reef Apo Reef, Coron for wreck diving and nudibranchs, and the Balicasag and Crocodile Islands for some coral gardens and deep diving.

Macro and Muck diving is also not uncommon in the Philippines with the Crocodile Islands possessing an array of macro diving opportunities. For ‘less glamorous’ diving opportunities, divers can visit Dauin where the marine sanctuaries in the area mean that fishing and boating is prohibited, offering some amazing muck diving for those who are interested. Be sure to have your PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty certificate before attempting your muck dive so that you can find your way back to the shore or your boat!

The best time to dive in the Philippines is between November and April, however great diving can be experienced throughout the year due to the large amount of dive destinations available. More information can be found in the Philippines Vacation Spotlight.

PADI would love to hear of your favourite places to dive in the Philippines!
