Every year, Kids Scuba – a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre – host an event to share their aquatic experiences with kids, teenagers and young adults from orphanage homes in the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur. This year the event was held at the Maybank Training Academy swimming pool in Bangi, about 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur.
With 46 underprivileged kids, teens and youths from two orphanages, “A Day for Sharing” involved a one-day pool experience including education about the marine environment, swimming, snorkeling and Scuba Discovery for the young group of participants.
After an overview about the event, Hj. Syed Abd Rahman – PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and founder, introduced the Kids Scuba Team and PADI Instructors to the group. After a local breakfast they were then split into four carefully organised groups to take part in the various activities – under the dedicated supervision of PADI Instructors and Divemasters from Kids Scuba.
During the program the groups were rotated between the four activities so everyone was able to learn, enjoy and experience all the water sessions. After a successful four hours, there were smiling faces and gleaming eyes as the kids shared their above and underwater experiences with the Instructors and Divemasters.
Kids Scuba “A Day for Sharing” ended with a group photo session with the team followed by a presentation of certificates to everyone and gifts of backpacks full of basic school necessities for the happy youngsters. The teachers and coordinators were also presented with gifts from Kids Scuba for their individual orphanages.
“We would like to thank everyone involved in the successful “A Day for Sharing” program, added Hj. Syed Abd Rahman, “and for the support and assistance from close and caring friends together with students of Kids Scuba and our dedicated PADI Instructors and Divemasters”.
