Day 2: Exploration
Challenge has now ended

Congratulations to Aimee Strang for winning the Day 2 Challenge. Check out her winning entry:

“My dream dive destination is Jeju Island, South Korea where the Haenyeo (generations of women freedivers) rule the sea. Real-life mermaids! My Mother is from South Korea and my grandfather and uncle were deep sea fisherman and avid hard hat divers. They both passed away when I was young, but the passion for diving is in my blood and their stories are what prompted me to try scuba for the first time. It has been my dream to dive the waters they once explored and to see for myself the wonder and beauty they described in their stories. Diving and this destination in particular are very personal for me.” – Aimee Strang

Challenge: Visit the PADI Travel page and tell us what your dream dive destination is and why by leaving a comment on the PADI Facebook post for the “Day 2” challenge.

Day 4: Education
Challenge has now ended.

Congratulations to Joe Parilla for winning the Day 4 Challenge. Check out his winning entry:

“I have suffered from severe anxiety for about 12 years. One of the biggest things that triggers the symptoms is the fear of being stuck in a place that I am uncomfortable with and not being able to get away. Diving therefore caused a massive mental issue in my head since once down, you cannot just come straight out if I am freaking out. I completed my Open Water course in Koh Tao last year. The first day was pool work and already the mental struggle had begun, fearing the first dive the next day and already thinking of my excuses for why I could not continue the course. I stubbornly decided to push on and I remember my heart pounding as I stood at the edge of the deck ready to jump into the water for the first time. My anxiety was working overtime whilst on the surface, waiting for the other people to jump in. Then our instructor said if we look down we might been able to see the reef as it was a shallow dive. I dipped my face in the water and suddenly I felt a rush of energy through my body, the shackles around me released and the anxiety lifted, I could see the reef down in the distance and the fish which were there. I will remember that moment for a long time, the excitement of seeing my first fish and the anticipation of what was to come was incredible. I completed the open water course and went on to do my advanced course, with 25 dives under my belt, having dived in Thailand, Egypt and Mexico. My open water training course made me realize that I can overcome my fears and my anxiety, it has set me on the path to do that. I battled it and did something I didn’t think I would be able to do. That course gave me the feeling of calm, beauty and closeness to nature that I haven’t found with anything else. It is this addictive memory which I will continue to chase with diving.” -Joe Parilla

Challenge: Share your fondest memory from learning to dive on the PADI Facebook post for the “Day 4” challenge.
Prize: Two PADI eLearning programs – one Open Water Diver program + one of the following: Advanced Open Water, Enriched Air, Digital Underwater Photographer, or Rescue

Day 5: Conservation
Challenge has now ended

Congratulations to Laura Tan for winning the Day 5 Challenge. Check out her winning entry:

I got my Open Water Scuba license earlier this year and since then i’ve been volunteer diving at AQWA in WA cleaning the tanks weekly. I study conservation biology and in January will be undertaking an internship where i will be surveying coral reefs in Bali, doing beach cleanups and going to local schools where I will do presentations on how oceans aren’t doing too well because of us and hopefully inspire young kids to reduce their impact on the ocean through awareness first then action, whether it be simply using less plastic and other harmful chemicals that end up in the ocean or actively educating others and putting stray rubbish in the bin. I use my keep cup, a metal straw, bamboo toothbrush and reusable bags when I shop to reduce my overall waste. The ocean is such a beautiful place and I hope that through my actions I am making positive change.

Challenge: Comment with how you are committed to helping protect the ocean on this PADI YouTube video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=taGGN5Zg804 (and subscribe to the channel).
Prize: Conservation prize pack complete with reusable utensils, reusable bag, PADI water bottle, reusable straws, Dive Against Debris bag, Project AWARE tote bag and more.

Day 7: Dive Gear
Challenge has now ended

Congratulations to Dale Checksfield for winning the Day 7 Challenge. Check out his winning entry:

The PADI Adaptive Support Diver is definitely my next course. As an able bodied diver I’ve had the privilege of being able to explore the world below the water. Being able to support those who may feel a disability would prevent them from experiencing the same pleasures to get under the water and enjoy the same experiences that I can would be both an honour and a privilege.

Challenge: Tell us which PADI course you would like to take next and why by commenting on the PADI Facebook post for the “Day 7” challenge. Try using the randomizer found here: https://blog.padi.com/2018/08/07/ready-next-scuba-certification/
