Named one of the “Seven Underwater Wonders of the World,” Palau is a scuba diver’s wonderland. The island is filled with incredible sights, diverse marine life, WWII wrecks, caverns and even cleaning stations, so every type of diver has something to enjoy.
Palau offers a number of awesome dive sites to explore and you might even have a hard time narrowing down your options. Consider these three popular dive spots for your trip:
Blue Corner
– It’s not hard to understand why Blue Corner is Palau’s most popular dive site. The unique vertical reef walls and large amount of schooling reef fish give Blue Corner an edge over other dive spots.
Ulong Channel
– The channel is surrounded on two sides by coral gardens and is also well known for its beautiful beaches and historical paintings of petroglyphs featured on the high cliffs of Ulong Island.
Peleliu Express
– This top dive spot features steep drop-offs and is home to both reef fish and pelagic creatures, including whale sharks, barracuda, rainbow runners and more.
Another great spot to check out in Palau is Jellyfish Lake, which is a marine lake located on Eil Malk island in Palau. Jellyfish Lake is home to two very unique-looking species of scyphozoan jellyfish: the golden jellyfish and the moon jellyfish.
Local marine life you might see while scuba diving in Palau includes various shark species, chevron barracuda, mandarin fish, sea turtles, anemone fish, pyramid butterfly fish and anthias.
Palau is clearly the perfect place to vacation and given it’s location in Micronesia, is surrounded by other incredible scuba diving locations.
