Advanced Open Water Diver Course = 5 Adventure Dives

Not only does the Advanced Open Water Diver course further your dive education, it’s great fun too. This popular course builds confidence and expands your scuba skills through five different Adventure Dives.

Every diver taking the course has to complete the:

  1. Deep Adventure Dive
  2. Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive

Then, each student gets to choose three additional Adventure Dives from the available options (these include search and recovery, wreck diving, fish ID, night diving, self-sufficient diving and dozens more). It’s best to choose these dives after a discussion with your instructor, so you can pick what’s available in your area and what interests you most.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course is a brilliant way to check out some of the different things divers can do and see what parts of diving really interest you. For example, there is no better way to try out exotic new equipment, such as a full-face mask or diver propulsion vehicle (DPV), or even dip your toe into tec diving with the available Sidemount and Rebreather Adventure Dives.

Furthermore, once you’ve discovered where your dive passions lies, you’ll be delighted to find out that each Adventure Dive can count as the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course, and vice versa. And depending on your location, you may be able to get started in ice, cavern, enriched air or any of the other dive specialties available to you right away or within 12 months of completing your Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

The divers who get the most out of diving never stop learning, and this is the all important first step on the continuing education ladder.
