It’s been happening all around the world for a while now, and today’s blog is about making it official — underwater raves are a thing.
From the tropical waters of Thailand to colorful Caribbean reefs, divers are gathering underwater to dance to some good music and start their day on a positive note.

This is the kind of get-together divers wish existed when they first got certified. One group of divers dancing together at the same dive site. Magic.
David McFowl, a British diver on a gap year traveling through Southeast Asia, says, “I was tired of the same late, drunken nights and wanted to try something different.” He got what he wished for when he visited a dive center in Bali. “As soon as they invited me to their underwater rave, I had to sign up for it,” he says. “I’m so glad I did because dancing underwater has been the highlight of my time in Bali.”

Bonnie Waters, from the US, who has attended a few underwater raves in Cozumel, echoes David’s sentiment, “I feel like I’ve gotten a bit old for parties. I’ve reached an age where I just want to dance and not worry about my hair and makeup.” She continues, “Dancing underwater ticks all these boxes. It’s so much fun. I highly recommend it!”
So, if you’re past the wild, party phase in life, or you want to do something that feels more you, underwater raves are fun, easy and perfect for all ages.

And here’s another big advantage to underwater raves: because you’ll be dancing with a small group of divers, you can pre-select your playlist and music genre. That way, very little air in your tank goes to waste as you try to sing along to your favorite tunes.
Plus — you needn’t worry — all of this boogying is done neutrally buoyant, so these underwater raves don’t harm or disturb marine life.
